What is the difference between 12 lines and 16 lines laser level? ▾
A 12-line laser level projects 2 vertical planes and 2 horizontal planes, covering 4 walls and floors — ideal for standard room layouts, tiling, and cabinet installation. A 16-line unit adds 2 diagonal lines, which is essential for complex staircases, sloped piping, and multi-angle roof framing. For most interior renovation, 12 lines is sufficient; for full-house construction, 16 lines saves you from constantly repositioning the tool.
Can I use a red laser level outdoors in bright sunlight? ▾
Yes, but with a receiver. Red lasers (635nm) are harder to see in sunlight beyond 15 meters without a receiver. For naked-eye visibility in outdoor conditions, our green laser series (520nm) is the right choice — it is 4 times brighter than red and performs reliably up to 50 meters in daylight. If you already own a red unit, pairing it with a laser receiver is the most cost-effective solution for outdoor use.
What does "self-leveling" mean and what is the compensation range? ▾
Self-leveling means the laser pendulum automatically adjusts to true horizontal and vertical within a specific tilt range. All Laizap laser levels feature a ±3° compensation range. If placed on a surface tilted within 3 degrees, the laser will calibrate itself within 4 seconds and lock into precise planes. If the tilt exceeds 3°, the unit will flash a warning (out-of-level indicator) — this prevents you from working with inaccurate reference lines.
